Self Defense: Aiki-Jujutsu
Aiki-Jujutsu is an effective self-defense system
originating in feudal Japan. The art focuses on neutralizing an opponent's
attack via throwing techniques and joint manipulations to effectively
control, subdue, or injure an attacker – either armed or unarmed.
Techniques include: blocks and strikes, throws and submissions, ground
work, grappling, and escapes as well as joint manipulation, locks, breaks,
chokes and weapons defense.
What Is Aiki-Jujutsu?
Aiki-jujutsu was the hand-to-hand fighting art
of the Japanese Samurai, created more than 500 years ago. The literal
Japanese translation of the name is "harmonizing energy,
gentle-convenient combat art". When a samurai lost his weapon(s), he relied
on this system to defend against armed opponents in combat.
The art focuses on neutralizing an opponent's
attack and emphasizes weapon defense, throwing techniques and joint
manipulations to effectively control, subdue, or injure an attacker.
Many martial arts of Japanese origin
emerged from Aiki-Jujutsu. Judo, Jujutsu, Aikido, and Brazillian Jujutsu
all have their roots or directly emerged as a result of Aiki-Jujutsu or its
practitioners.
